Here's a few helpful definitions:
Quilting (v) - the act of joining together layers of fabric (backing and completed quilt top) and batting with decorative effect to form a warm covering.
Quilt Top (n) - the top layer of the quilt, which is decorative and made of many smaller pieces to make a pattern.
Batting (n) - the middle layer of the quilt, which is a thin, low loft material that acts as stuffing.
Backing (n) - the bottom layer of the quilt.
Binding (n) - piece of fabric that goes around the outside of the quilt to hide the raw edges of the layers.
